I work from the belief that all children are born good and with the desire to do the right thing.
I value, and aim to build, an environment of mutual respect and kindness which recognises and celebrates the strengths and achievements of the individual and their contribution to the group.
I work hard to invite and maintain regular open communication, mutual affection and emotional warmth and security.
I make sure to always recognise the positive, reward accomplishments and respect each child’s individuality and developmental stage.
My Approach
When caring for children I believe in the practice of positive discipline. This approach focuses on teaching proper future behaviour instead of punishing past bad behaviour.
I set clear and consistent boundaries for behaviour while showing empathy for the child’s feelings, supporting their best interests, and teaching discipline in a way that builds a child’s independence and self-esteem while supporting a mutually respectful carer/child relationship.
I strive to help each child reach their potential while remaining sensitive to their needs and respecting their individuality. I do this through guiding, leading, and teaching in an empowering and nurturing way, always keeping the children at the centre of my plans and actions.
I endeavour to establish efficient routines that suit the children and their families and aim to create a setting where children feel happy, safe and secure. An environment in which each child’s individual needs are recognised and met to the best of my abilities.
Services
Infants and Toddlers
Providing high quality home-based childcare for infants and toddlers up to three years.
Good Time to Be 2
Working in partnership with Midlothian Council to provide free childcare to eligible 2 year olds as part of the Good Time to Be Two initiative.
Preschool
Private and/or funded childcare for pre-school children on a full or part time basis.
Wrap-Around Care
Providing a safe and engaging space for children before and after school from 07:30 until 17:30.
